read it this morning and it is very interesting. I am thinking about essential metals (Cu, Zn) vs non-essential metals (e.g. Hg) with the later I would not expect to see the hormesis effect, but not sure.

yes, I think essential elements are typically considered a trivial case, since they are required at low doses. It gets more interesting when there are low-dose positive effects and these substances are not required.
Well, when I think about it some more: it is also related to an axes of disturbance/ stressor intensity, so the connection certainly is not all that random! Not sure how these two things, hormesis and IDH can be reconciled. Maybe they should be....
