The Cass approach is ‘be anything but Trans’, so if they can find any other condition to focus on like ADHD they will.
By doing this the patient will join the NHS waiting list for another resource constrained diagnosis & potential treatment.
The holistic approach is a delaying / diversionary tactic

ADHD is a rapidly growing area of diagnosis.
There are other conditions & some with common symptoms that Trans people may display like eating disorders.
Due to increased awareness around ADHD there’s a huge backlog awaiting diagnosis, wait list of a few years…

And, ike gender dysphoria, the fix for ADHD is physiological in nature, a lifetime dependence on various medications to stimulate dopamine reception...

...that they all fight tooth and nail against prescribing, sometimes interceding on previous approvals to revoke the meds.

in my trans clients (I'm a therapist) eating disordered behavior is so often driven (and sustained) by an underlying dysphoria. as with depression, dissociative disorders, etc, treating the dysphoria dramatically alleviates other symptoms and associated suffering.

Transmasculine people often go through eating disorders prior to transition too. Starvation cuts secondary sexual development whether it's muscle growth and height or breasts and other fatty tissue.

People need to understand trying to stop trans ppl from being trans results in desperate measures.

Anorexia is notoriously a highly fatal and difficult to treat issue. The cavalier way in which young trans people's mental health is being treated is extremely disturbing to me.

It took me from aged 16 when I abruptly lost a lot of weight (about 3 stone in a month) until about 3 years after starting hrt (5 years later?) to fully stop having disordered eating. During that time I had heart palpitations, would feel faint frequently, my grades sank, it was scary and bad.
