Not to dismiss the significance of this.... but Biden admin passed a law saying that if a marriage is done in any other state that it has to be observed in the state? I thought that was a thing done to codify the decision into law in case a decision came along.

3. Given that state courts ruled in favor of same-sex marriage rights in 2014, which was reaffirmed by SCOTUS in 2015, and because thousands upon thousands of gay Montanans have been already wed, one might assume same-sex marriage was already formally legalized.

7. If Zephyr’s bill passed in both the House and Senate, the matter would be put onto the ballot as a referendum. But the bill died in committee along party lines... The Judiciary Committee assigned for an initial review of the bill was stacked with a majority of the furthest right Republicans.
