Propublica reported Elon Musk paid no income tax in 2018. Just think if he had how it could help ! But he wants to Grinch Social Security, taking people’s measly income and Medicare! This country is seriously in trouble!
Only by voting in a progressive democracy majority but our freedoms to vote fairly are being taken away and we may never get them back again! We had our shot and blew it!
Taxing churches is off the table constitutionally. Besides, they're NON-profits. There's no income to tax.
Imho, talking like this in an option makes the Left look weird. Millions of people each week rely on their church for their spiritual needs. Their sanctuary. I.e., exactly NOT government.
Millionaire Preachers & MegaChurches should not be a thing.. the riches squirreled away by the Roman Catholics, The Mormons, and Jehovah's Witnesses should be seriously redirected as well, let alone further investigation into CSE..
Yes, but where it's not we need to step it up. Keeps criminals inside innocent people's homes and money in the black market. Biden took a great step in lowering its schedule rating. This all should've happened decades ago, though...
Just growled aggressively, my girl asked what happened. Hope y’all have got effective defense 👍 (while typing growling my spellcheck kept pitching me Growop)😜
I’m not sure how everyone doesn’t understand this by now. As soon as we start working for the bottom up, the top starts culture wars~~>that’s hard to fight!
Fixing 3 fundamental probs w/the tax code would raise $3.6tr in revenue to support investments in an inclusive, hi-growth economy-
Billionaires paying virtually 0 taxes
Corps not paying enuff taxes, inc by shifting profits & investment offshore
The rich & corps not paying the taxes they already owe
Thata 2021 data & the language above was paraphrased from part of the Biden Admin's Build Back Better. & its why that bill never passed altho its concept had roughly the support of 2 out of 3 Americans. Its time for Americans of both parties to raise up & put pressure on Congress to make this right!
Can't tax the churches unless you tax all non-profits. It's a First Amendment thing. But yes, highly progressive tax rates for corporations and the wealthy would be good as a way to take money out of politics.
We could also house the homeless. Other first world nations don’t have these issues. Their taxes actually take care of the people not the wealthy. We need to get out of this trap once and for all!
Such a simple solution but republicans can't make a profit on that so NO! I guess the folks that vote for republicans don't need healthcare or food security. If you're a republican voter look in a fucking mirror and decide if you did the right thing.
We all pay for private insurance anyway, so what's the difference if it just comes out of our taxes instead? Everyone pays the same price that way, and everyone gets equal treatment.
The country was founded to benefit only Rich white men and no one else. It’s functioning as intended.😒 Until the poor people realise their poor and that being white doesn’t put food on the table we are doomed in the loop of idiots 🙄
And we could still have money to fix all the potholes. Everyone hates those, red and blue🤔. I forget Republicans hate taxes so much they would rather collapse on a bridge over the Mississippi River. Than payback tax to repair it.
A health, food-secure society will not work for peanuts. This changes the power structure and terrifies the rich, the church and big business. The slavery would end.
Unfortunately we have a huge percentage of the population that has zero interest in funding healthcare or food security for everyone. They want the poor to be poorer so they can feel better about their own terrible situation. Punching down is the American Way™.
Neither party seems to have the "stomach" to do this. So the churches are, in effect, becoming huge corporations, influencing their parishioners, and the pastors well up among the millionaires.
If America were not an oligarchy that would be great. But we will be in another few weeks, then they will call the shots and will likely pay no taxes at all.
But then there would be very little money to grease the greedy fingers of the politicians to make sure their interests are protected and they pile on cash, no?!

The problem isn't the tax rate, the problem is "What is my income?"
Donald Trump is the greatest example of a wealthy person who hasn't paid tax. It's not HIS brains that got him there.

But we should still tax the wealthy, the churches and big corporations because their money distorts our political system.
This is how we fight back
Billionaires paying virtually 0 taxes
Corps not paying enuff taxes, inc by shifting profits & investment offshore
The rich & corps not paying the taxes they already owe
We repeatedly elect people who do NOT care enough about poverty, homelessness, the elderly or sick!
If they did care, they could make things MUCH better with the stroke of a pen!
They CHOOSE not to-for their own political self-interest!
