Everyone should know that Social Security is massively efficient. It's the most efficient program we have. Its overhead is only 0.5%. Cutting Social Security staff will do nothing to improve that and only result in problems with people getting the payments they are legally owed.

About those $5,000 "DOGE dividend" checks, if they actually happen, they're going to be more like <$200, and that's per household not per person, and none will go to the bottom 40% of households, which includes at least a third of all Trump voters. This is not even close to a UBI.

I've often insisted that we need to keep our eyes on Trump's actions more than his words (because so many of the words are bluster & lies). Now we have a genuinely dangerous action: a purge at the Pentagon, notably a purge of the top figures who can decide if Trump's commands are unconstitutional.

If MAGA really wants to ‘own the libs’, they should like just out of nowhere pass universal basic income and Medicaid for all. Steal the real populist platform. I know they won’t stop with the bad shit, but they’d get a talking point that would be pretty impossible to respond to.
