We should be sending an envoy to get in on the belt and road initiative, but Canadian politicians have spent so much energy on “China bad” that it’s a tough pivot to make now.
Saw Mark Carney on a very recent podcast with Anthony Scaramucci & Alister Campbell. His positions on China were concerning & call into question how dug-in the grit establishment are these days.
Ffs Robert, my spouse just spent 6 mos at sea working with multiple Navys incl US, they are working for us, not just US but part of pacific maritime defence, which yes includes against Chinese aggression on on a pre set deployment mission. What do you suppose they should do? Disregard orders?
I’m not talking about the people on the ship—but the people who ordered them there. Picking fights with China isn’t in our national interest and we should stop helping the Americans do it.
Not entirely disagreeing, but think more keeping things close & I'm sure some leadership very concerned with trumps actions & risks it presents to US armed forces themselves with rising anger from other cpuntries. I worry as my spouse away again this yr & has to visit US port this summer.
Come & visit Esquimalts saxe point park, or Fleming beach and see the monuments there from our cdn navy time against the threats we faced before from Asia Pacific.
