Statement from Manchester United explaining they’re putting up ticket prices because that means more money and they want more money. Glad they’ve cleared that one up 👍🏽

If they hadn't spunked millions on individual jets for 3 club officials to fly out and extend Ten Haag's contract shortly before having to pay him off they may not have needed to put prices up. As usual the fault lies with executives and the fans pay the penalty.
The investment justification reminds me of the ST renewals that blamed price increases on "Roy Keane's £52k a week contract" and subsequently the purchase of Rio Ferdinand
The sad thing is that if one of the owners/the board had to use it, it would've been fixed in 1 or 2 days. But they couldn't care less about disabled supporters
(1/2) Here's a rough calculation: about 70k seats allotted to the home fans, 97% of them have already been sold, only about 2100 remain. A hike of £50/ticket for the rest of season would earn the club around £3m extra, assuming 25 to 30 more games to be played at Old Trafford.
(2/2) That amount of money could be saved by selling one of many underperforming players in the January window.
They're basically throwing away all the goodwill of the match going fans for the money equivalent to Antony's 4 months' salary.🤦
what would the most impactful opposition to this be? hard to see any sort of boycott being effective when a club has a worldwide fanbase, and supporters probably wouldn't want to make a more visible protest that impacts the new broom.
Owners of the big clubs know this, hence reducing concessions and the percentage of season tickets compared to day tickets. If the "legacy" fan stops going a "day" fan will have the ticket. They pay more and will probably spend in the club shop too. It's a deliberate strategy to increase revenue.
yep. i remember reading that an occasional visitor spends on average £35 more at the ground on top of ticket price (which in some cases they're paying massive markups on anyway). the clubs have maxed out every other revenue stream. we're moving into american-style ticketing now it feels.
It naturally leads the reader into glancing over the text and equating “hard decisions” with “increased revenue.” And, as a result, suggests the latter justifies the former.
No one who has ever encountered Mr Ratcliffe or his Rottweilers on a professional level is surprised at these events. Man has a formula and he sticks to it.
the football "fan" as a concept only exists in the mind of the individual. the business sees the "fan" as a resource there to be exploited 9 ways to sunday.
as ever, there is a choice. if you feel like you get value from your financial commitment, then fine. if you don't, don't pay it.

Children & OAPs then, you know like all football clubs do.

Its utterly disgusting
A little bit of the love dies most times you get a little look behind the curtains.
One that I hate and love at the same time

Glazers (who couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery) steal from the club for nearly 2 decades.
Now an actual businessman comes in and tries to run the club as an actual viable business.

they have reduced the U18 ticket price to £10 for travelling fans and also away fans visiting Brentford
