So much customization and story beats that can affect the game.
Second favorite would be a paladin, because their oaths allow for a similar effect. And it's nice to smite a bad guy.
Can rock in with a Spotify playlist
Can Ace every skill check
Can be as good at battlefield control as a wizard
Some of the strongest buffs and debuffs in the game
Can take some of the best spells from other classes
Always useful
(trying to branch out into Wiz biz)
Just the right amount of thinking, and you get to do socially unexpected things with good story reasons.
(My lizardfolk barbarian liked to eat fallen foes)
Expanded classes: 3.5 editions dervish. My favourite character I ever made was a dervish and just the dancing through a battlefield as a spinning cyclone of blades was peak.
I don't think I've never made two characters of the same class
But I also enjoy RP/storytelling more than combat, so I don't know how that happened either π€
Come for the Wildshape
Stay for the best spellbook in the game
My heart says sorcerer, but I don't know the 2024 ruleset.
Or
Divine Sorcerer
These days I just stick with simple stuff like investigator rogue or healing hand monk.
But Draconic sorcerers have a special place in my heart
