Yeah that's the overall tendency. But as humans we often pay attention only to the extremes and may not notify the "normal" rainfall. At least that's my own experience.
Understandably, a heating atmosphere holds more moisture and energy. Since I've followed monthly trends for longer, I notice when the weather pattern seems 'normal' and seasonal, and when it doesn't.

during the 80s and 90s your average summer day would be rainy … now it's mostly dry, and as other noted, the rain comes in heavier bursts.
