1/ Very proud I work for an organization with the guts & nouse to send me down to El Salvador to report on Sen. Van Hollen's visit, and his ensuing success getting an audience with Kilmer Abrego Garcia.
While I was on the ground, an amazing group was working from all over the @usatoday.com team.

Bravo to you USA Today!
Thank you all for reading, and watching, and clicking.
I spoke with journalists who have left the country out of fear and because of threats.
Several asked me if I'm worried about my own country.
But our industry has been decimated.
And if you think the constitutional challenges the country is facing won't impact a free and fair media (or haven't already) I'd ask you to think long and hard about that.
That's not the case in many countries.
Note, for example, that Mr. Abrego Garcia only appeared with Sen. Van Hooten after we, the media, had left.
We had no advance notice of the meeting
Why the president gleefully tweeted out a photograph before independent journalists were even made aware Abrego Garcia was still alive.
And it takes a robust, free and impartial media industry to point these things out.
Traveling to El Salvador (a place I have been a few times and watched change over the years) showed me afresh how important our organization's work is.
