Yes! Swimming is like diving into another realm for me. Absurdly good for solving problems and generating ideas with the subconscious. Need to get a slate and some kind of underwater pen. The fear of losing them is too much!
Same. I'd assume it's because I'm not actively trying to get ideas then. And thus I'm less worried or judgmental of the outcome. Which results in more creative and better ideas 💡
I am a mechanic by day and environment artist by night.
its a nightmare I will be 20 bolts deep in an engine and have a great epiphany about the art I was doing the night before then I go home and whilst at my desk Ill have a great solution to a mechanical problem.
Sometimes, I have an idea, go to open up my phone to jot it down somewhere, but see a notification on my lock screen and forget the idea before I even get the app open.
But maybe that's why a physical pad would be better.
yeah, working from home helps there.
less coffee/cigarette breaks to try and replicate it.
Hell, I would suggest a home working environment suits problem solving better than an office does for that, but in an office you can more easily bounce with various disciplines on something

Eric Morecambe: I do, sometimes I think you're going to be in there all day.

Doing something brainless with my hands will let me bounce the problem around my head without distraction and will help me come to conclusions.
