I'm American and in Canada right now for the weekend. Just went to the IGA and spent an hour buying only Canadian products, or produce from anywhere other than the US. Was also happy to see empty spaces of Canadian products next to full shelves of US products.
we've been doing that for awhile. Also; if you're switching to organic, it's most likely more local produce and products anyway, and will be more expensive, but it's worth it!!
Superstore makes it easier and they have already added the American tariffs... my coffee was $3 more so I left it on the shelf..the Shepherds pie is amazing...and $5 cheesecake.
Yesterday at my grocery store parking lot I apologized to a woman driving a Mercedes with a British Columbia license plate. (We get lots of Canadian visitors in southern AZ) She was very gracious
I have only ever owned Apple (American) and Blackberry (Canadian) smartphones. It can be hard to switch brands. Now with no viable Canadian option should I upgrade from my Apple iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy (South Korea)?
I'm happy to report that, according to the label I was staring at on the kitchen table at lunch today, the Nutella we bought some time ago was product of Canada.
When Trump backs down, don't do the same. Elections have consequences. Sometimes consequences are permanent. The US is that fucking kid who bullies everyone on the playground then demands friendship. Then the little shit cries when the other kids say no. Me first = no friends.
I love this for all the Canadian Capitalists right now! Hopefully they remember our loyalty the next time theyβre raising prices to squeeze greater profit out of Canadians in a cost of living crisis
Itβs seems more expensive to buy Canadian - $7 for lettuce grown in a greenhouse in Calgary, and even doing without (Spanish onion, broccoli) but worth it and so so satisfying. Not to mention that I question the food safety from the US with all their funding cuts.
Same here..I had to buy a single US product that was not negotiable. Cat food. It was $15 of a $200 bill. And I only buy it once a month. I intend to keep it this way.
seemed like the stuff I was already buying is all canadian, but it was cheaper this wednsday. Going for a beer tonight, hope its all VancouverIsland Lucky and Phillips doing deals.
I do the same - Iβll buy Canadian even if itβs less volume or a bit higher price - I think we all have a similar attitudeβ¦.it helps us in the end.
Thanks Dawn! This will be helpful! I used to visit my Great Aunt in Cardinal Ontario all through my youth until she passed away. Canada means a lot to me!π¨π¦
