It's not just a political predicament. Far more serious. These are suicide bombers careening towards the heart of democracy. They have no interest in learning how to land the plane.
This takes us back to the time of slavery. We are at that point. The only difference is that we are now owned by Russia & led by an evil demented psychopath & a nazi ketamine addled idiot.
I was too young for McCarthyism but learned in school. I did experience the Cuban missile crisis, Vietnam. Then along came Tricky Dick with the help of Lee Atwater and ta da, Watergate. Then Ronnie Rayguns.
This is the worst. At least we still had the 1st amendment to rely on.
Which is not to say that some didn’t seek to limit it. Tricky Dick had his ‘get tough’ policies for student dissent which preceded republican governor Jim Rhodes sending armed troops to Kent State University.
These democrats will lead us to our deaths & they aren't going to wait till 2026 to hand us over to Trump. Schumer & others yesterday had protesters in their office arrested, they will do the same to the rest of us. They will not leave, they are part of Trumps takeover.
I meant more in the “military and intelligence services haven’t done anything despite getting fucked over” sense, but you’re absolutely right on that count. If there hadn’t already been a final flashpoint as far as elected federal officials taking action goes, yesterday’s vote was it.
I saw one last month where someone was talking about a place crash with me - and we weren't even talking about the same crash. It's all become like "school shootings" or something.
If social security payments get missed, and that gets publicized, the result will be panic, followed by action. Townhall? No, there will be protesters at their homes. And worse. Called the third rail for a reason.
It's the hackers that worry me long term. IRS data? Could drain bank accounts.
Me, too. And I've been around since McCarthy hearings (I was too young to know anything except "communists are bad"), Cuban missile crisis (I was a scared teen all the adults around me were scared), civil rights marches, VietNam protests, Covid...but never the possible destruction of my country.
We're in the same age bracket & lived through the same events. Nixon was paranoid but he understood some things about Presidentimg. Trump has no redeeming qualities. He has concept of leadership, resorts to threats & bullying. He's spiteful, cruel, &ignorant
And if they destroy Social Security, I would have been this close 🤏 to modestly living out my few remaining golden years with a shred of dignity by not having to rely on family for survival…
A thing I hadn't considered: more than 30 states have "filial responsibility laws." You have to take care of your retired parents whether you want to or not. (Credit: @parkroseperma.bsky.social ) https://youtube.com/shorts/UmEa4v7hsds?si=kWxar0PFRWUiLBpC
I’m 62 in November and was planning to take early retirement Now I’m praying Social Security will be there for me even if I need to wait a bit to fix my 401k again

Resistance and Resiliency are formidable forces.
Sorry for the doomerism.
Especially for the children growing up in this atmosphere.

Are there still Branch Davidians?
The Supreme Court has cut our constitution off at the knees. Effectively creating a king.
Nice going Roberts, Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, Boofer, Barrett.
No predecessor compares.
Solid quality standards.
