In university I learned two different ways the engine of America operates. The first is coalescence around Americans’ shared fundamental principles of democratic governance. The second is outright conflict and upheaval leading to a new compromise and an uneasy peace.

I kind of love how the GOP's two opinions about the Constitution are:
1) IT WAS WRITTEN BY GOD AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY SACROSANCT AND PERFECT
and
2) I mean, what even is a Constitution, amirite? Birthright citizenship, ok sure, it SAYS that, but does it REALLY mean that?
