If I signed that contract I'd have a reasonable expecation that my asset would have it's value protected - or at least not eroded - by the company's owner. His behavior voids the contract for you.

He must have done that to get a reduced price on the thing. Musk wants to convince people that people want to own this thing, so he's probably selling them for a loss with a contract keeping people from flipping the trucks to someone else.

Interesting article here. I guess automakers that sell low-volume, "high status" cars do this to prevent "scalping" (re-selling a hard-to-find vehicle at inflated prices). But I can't imagine demand for Cybertrucks is that high. At least, not since the election.

It's a fairly common stipulation in the supercar market to keep people from snapping them up and just turning around and selling them for a profit.
That said, the dumpstermobile is no supercar.

I hope this is confined to CTs. Tesla used to be a trusted brand with a "wacky" CEO, vandalizing just any Tesla is a bit over the top. But by the time Cybertrucks came out, everyone pretty much knew what sort of (rancid) vibe they were buying into.
