Looking at the Record Store Day releases and it’s sad to see all these bands clinging to the past and putting out their music in the archaic vinyl format instead of embracing the superior fidelity and durability of the Compact Disc

I know this is trolling, but I smiled. I grew up with records, tape, then CDs and you will have to kill me to go back. I heard instruments in the CD music I didn't in the records. Plus I like shinnies...
I mean, *most* of them probably have a CD release as well. Most people just buy vinyl for big album art and “lo-fi” aesthetic (probably own a Crosley). A minority probably want to hear a different master because vinyl can’t be pushed in volume like digital
If we’re going along with Pixel’s bit and talking seriously, a depressingly high proportion of RSD titles in the last few years are just all the bonus tracks they put out on the anniversary CD a few years earlier “FOR THE FIRST TIME ON VINYL!!!”
In the 80's I was led to believe that music CDs would last forever. Imagine my relief that I was not one of those people who replaced their entire library with them, only to find a mere 30 years later that it was all a lie.
the other thing is even if suddenly every band stopped putting out vinyl again there’d still be so much music on the format to explore and enjoy
have fun !!!
a single scratch, likely as you're using a needle, destroying a song forever. killing the recording a little more every time you play it. taping it and only listening to the tape to keep it from being damaged and besides you couldn't play it in anything portable. ah memories
PS If TC means tape cassette--fine. Tapes are even worse, I hate them and absolutely don't miss them. It's just they were once the affordable option that was most portable. But tapes are shit
I recall exactly when I decided to start buying CDs instead of records, back when I had players for both. It was 10,000 Maniacs' Blind Man's Zoo, & a batch of at least 5 straight copies I exchanged that had a flaw in Eat for 2 that caused them to skip in the same place. 6th time I exchanged for a CD

Nah, I'm waiting for shellac 78s to come back.
Better still wax cylinders.

*shudder*
I'm all for music being released in every available medium, but restricting it to a non-mainstream format is something I'll never get behind.
have fun !!!
TCs also get stretched & destroy songs!
