I can see why you use the word excesses. Some Christians do not think they even understand Christianity. In any event it's caused animosity toward religion. Clergy abuse did a lot toward that end as well
Start by calling out Xtian Nationalists for the right wing radical bigots they are. Denounce the patriarchy and subjugation of women, marginalized groups and all the BS that goes with secular indoctrination. Get politics out of your pulpit, shut up or pay taxes. That's a good place to start.
