I've been using Screen for years (they recently converted the subscription in a permanent license) because it displays SMPTE TC and the Metadata. But it has trouble loading files all the time. Let's you frame by frame and still frame.
IINA plays all the odd stuff for me. Not sure about proper gamut.

I'll look into it. I loved the Digital Rebellion player from MANY years back that had pro features...and the old QT PRO had great features. Nothing replaces those that I've seen

Yeah I was using the DR player until the killed it. Went to Screen, which is my goto. But it has trouble with some files. for whatever reason, IINA seems to play everything.

I have used the base version of Switch, but it’s been awhile. I haven’t checked to see what kind of NCLC metadata features it has.

Screen has what I need. It also manages to read the source gamma and gamut metadata on individual Canon video files, which Canon’s own app doesn’t even do.

I second that. Big fan. One of the few app that I accepted as a subscription. And the only app I know to have switched from subscription to one-off payment. Kudos!

I just wish for BM video out support though. Sadly, it won’t happen.

When they switched to perpetual license, the developers said they stopped active development because Screen didn’t get enough sales to justify the cost. About BMD support, they claimed there was a lot of work involved. It was on their todo list in case sales goes up.
