I always hate reading this. It implies that God chose to let to 'protect them' while turning a blind eye to others, letting them die horribly and sentencing heir families to years of unbearable suffering. Those who survived were lucky - others were not.
God could have stopped the whole thing.
Maybe I'm thinking of another God.
Were those who died thinking of the CORRECT God?
Was that why God was choosy?
Christians get annoyed when I ask questions like this.
They think I'm disrespecting God.
I'm not. I'm disrespecting them.
There's a difference.
I’m sincerely glad you’re alive, but saying god saved you makes no sense. If it did, it also means he let those others die. There has never been evidence of a loving, omnipotent and benevolent god in the history of our species. It’s a fairy tale that has caused incredible human suffering. Nada mas.
Deeply question your beliefs. If you prove them to be accurate, you’ve lost nothing. If you prove them wrong, you can start living a valid, realistic existence.
Christians say God doesn't interfere in the life because of free will. Then they
say God saved me. You have free will or you do not. If you have free will then
God does not interfere in your life no matter how much you pray. So he did not save you. Or he is cruel & picks who to die & who to save.
But also, I'd expect any religious person to come out with such a phrase after an event, it's understandable their mind can't think of anything else - but media should NOT be putting that as their clickbait - it makes them and the couple look stupid.
I'm sorry...the dark hubris needed to claim God randomly intervened on your behalf and watched others died around you. That God is fickle and terrible.
Nothing can explain the loss of innocent children gunned down in schools and in community shootings. It is illogical to think some are “chosen” over others and does nothing to heal those grieving.
I want to follow up on this after further consideration.
The law considers the terrorist to have done the choosing; it never assigns responsiblity to God.
We have it one way for people and another for God. We do not hold God accountable, even rhetorically.
I mean, they are crazy though... It's just that whole indoctrination thing that keeps it "normal" within societies. I'm genuinely glad that they and others survived though, and fuck that also religious lunatic for committing such a pathetic and cowardly act. 'seems like delulu crazies do crazy shit.
I hate writing "just to be clear" Because what follows is "I did not write that song and I've never had sex with a child just to be clear **mumbled off camera line** most men find me to be an eight or nine out of ten, and, I am available to any interested men, who'd like to get my number after ".
No; God did not save you. Why would he save you (and kill those dozen other people)?
Have you never for a moment thought how cruel this sentiment is? Do you then conclude that God chose these other people to die?
Comments
I don’t think it’s kind to say god saved you, did god not like the poor people who were killed or something, it’s disrespectful

Does God choose who dies in terrorist events, or is it random? Or is the terrorist who chooses?

Only thanks are allowed.
Never giving any consideration to those that made the same plea but lost.
This is unethical, asking God to favor one side in a zero-sum contest.
What a dick.
Those other people probably deserved to die.
Some times, religious people sound absolutely insane.
I don't mind if people feel this way. Be happy with whatever outcome you're in, justify it however you like.
But keep it to yourself.
People get to choose what they believe influences the world as they grow.
You could call out details of any period, and call it crazy. But it was just, that time.
It's the indifference to the people who lost loved ones. We're safe. That's that. Now we move on.
