in my hometown, the city just plows the sidewalks. It's insane to me that sidewalk safety in most places depends on every rando on every street doing their part every day

Just once in my suburban home owning life did a [young] cop come to the door to tell me to clear my sidewalk. The one time(!) I was tardy in doing so. Meanwhile, people with huge corner properties repeatedly ignore the obligation
