And here it is - conclusions on Ukraine adopted at 26, without Hungary. Not the best outcome, but a clear stop sign to Orbán that the others will not tolerate him blocking in such a crucial strategic decision.

Although this is not the first time, the EU has adopted a statement as 26 without Hungary, this goes deeper, as it relates to the largest and for quite a few member states existential security question of our time.

In the past it was often the UK the country not signing the conclusions… In 1990 Rome summit that initiated the process for monetary union - a v relevant one - signed by all but Margaret Thatcher

I think the best outcome would still have been Orbán folding. Many future decisions will require unanimity.

But certainly second best to have him clearly isolated.
