Fine words. But would we be ‘natural partners’ or order-takers? It was made fairly clear when we left the EU that we were giving up our say in what goes on. I wonder if the EU still sees it that way?
I’m pondering this because of Kate Bingham’s recent comments to the Covid Inquiry that, in terms of vaccine procurement, the EU wanted the UK to humbly wait and be told what to do…
Why would the UK expect special treatment? The UK messed around and treated the EU very badly during the leave negotiations, so they are perfectly reasonably being careful with any moves by our new government.
It's not up to the EU to change to suit the UK.
