As noted in a Reddit comment (with 🔗 to newspaper articles), this is about HALF the pubs & yes a travelling salesman problem:
“…the result of some research on the travelling salesman problem by… university students, who used "24,727 of the pubs listed on the comprehensive Pubs Galore website".”
I was in Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem the weekend after my first pay check for working as an IT contractor. I have absolutely no recollection of the night so it must have been a good pub!
The pub crawl was basically one pub per week of the year. Well apart from during the straw bear festival when it was a race to carry a sack of wheat and have half a pint at every pub, I shit you not😮
At one point in whittlesey they had 7 pubs in one street that only took 10 mins to walk the whole length. Farm workers and brickyard workers needed the sustenance😂

IIRC correctly it was some sort of travelling salesman type problem or something…

There are five star eateries that look like pubs that you have to book months in advance, but no pubs
We were north of Uig, and booked a week in advance (at a ridiculous price of course) as a treat for 2 adults and 2 kids
Amazing place though!
There's quite a few pubs on the Isle of Skye for instance...

Mine is the Sali - proper old style pub with real ales, pool, food, no Sky and fruities, dogs welcome type of place.

That'll take at least four days. Maybe five.
