If only more people grasped that. I've had people tell me they would pray for me and I quietly thought: "Oh god no, block me from it".
There's things I could add to this, but they are too extreme for the average person to grasp. A little spiritual knowledge is dangerous for some people.
I disagree. God doesn't need us to tell him what's going on. But we need to talk it out sometimes. And usually, if done right, I come away different, and then I take action on it. Prayer changes our minds, not God's mind.
I do agree that is how people treat it sometimes tho.
As an empathic therapist, I have tried to explain that to some people.. 'god' already knows - allow it all to clear so you can 'hear' receive the answers, help, needed. There's no need to diffuse the connection more. Unless you need to? And Yes, it's up to us to take the action needed.
And the Multitudes did indeed pray. They prayed for that God healeth Aunt Edna’s piles, and they prayeth for the Christmas Fayre. But did they lift a finger to help? They did not. And many were taken from their number that day, as they did suss that religion is full of hypocrites and vipers’ brood.
“Thoughts and Prayers” has to be the most useless phrase ever uttered. For a politician, it means “I don’t have to do anything, I’ve handed it over to god”. Too bad that there is no such thing!
I never understand how Christians acknowledge that God has a plan, like that's why he knows everything b/c we're actors in his movie, but at the same time you think you can just pray and ask him to change the script? Would be like if a classroom of students asked teacher to change the test questions
But effort IS required. Being passive is to allow horrors to just happen. Take the animal industry for instance. A true holocaust and people should stand against it.
And then when other people do get off their ass and take action you're further elated as proof that prayer works is presented! But no worries if nothing happens because "God has a plan"
No not really....According to most large-scale studies, research on the efficacy of "intercessory prayer" (praying for others) has generally yielded negative results, indicating that prayer by strangers does not significantly improve health outcomes for patients, and in some cases,
may even show slightly negative effects, particularly when patients are aware they are being prayed for.
Potential negative impact:
Some studies suggest that patients who knew they were being prayed for might experience slightly higher complication rates compared to those
Prayer is an act of doubt, an act of disbelief, an act of arrogant narcissism, a lack of faith that your imaginary, omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent deity doesn't know your every thought, want and need, that He needs you to tell Him where His mysterious plan is wrong and that you know better.
Right..Technically since you're doubting God, it's a sin! The Bible says don't sin, but half the shit it tells you to do is sinful lol. Idk how Christians live other than cherry pick and pretend it doesn't say horrible things.
Saw a person pray for god to find her car keys. When she found them, she said "oh god is so good"
I kid you not. That's why god can't make world peace he's too damn busy.
If people took all their good thoughts, shoved them up their asses to bake, and then actually did good things vs all the NOTHING that prayer brings anyone but alleviating the guilt of their indifference, religion might do some good. It’s just nothing parading as “something.” Truly lazy thinking. 🤨
