I think that's kind of the point? If you get down to the details, it's fairly easy to understand and to move from a position of tolerance, so the transphobes try to push it to abstraction.

I agree that it's in transphobes' interest to push the conversation onto "can a man 'really' be a woman" type meaningless nonsense, rather than concrete stuff like "should people be allowed to undergo X procedure", but I think Ben was also talking about his perception of pro-trans campaigning.
I wasn’t referring to any particular side of the debate, really. I know it’s also a bit of a side issue compared with the fundamentals of being tolerant, but I do just find the jargon that accompanies it quite offputting.
Ah fair! I mean, the jargon is not a side issue as far as activists are (should be?) concerned if the jargon prevents people from engaging, as long as the problem can be fixed by changing messaging without compromising on principles.
