I had only been on twitter 3 months and someone who read some of my tweets said hi at researchED Cheshire I was shocked. I asked a colleague who I know lurks why he doesn't engage in discourse and he said he doesn't have the mental load to contribute but helps him to slowly formulate ideas.
I am one of these. Why don’t I post? Probably an inferiority complex when reading posts from well respected folk. However, the PD I gleaned from Twitter was great and I often sent out blogs to the whole staff.
That's why I liked Blue Sky as it felt like everyone was starting again. It didn't matter who commented, and there was less tribalism as everyone was finding their way. We all have experience and ideas to share. Long may it last!
I have only been on twitter about 5 months and was slowly building up regular readers of some of the things I was sharing but little discussion, so I don't know if twitter used to be like bluesky is now but I love bluesky for having "critical friends" especially being in a standalone academy.
Also, I didn’t like the link between FB / instagram and threads. I like to keep my social media presence in two distinct camps. Personal stuff about family and farming on FB and work on twitter.
I’m semi pseudonymous on here as I was on twitter, there is too high a risk of losing that on treads. I don’t want to use my name as I have a rare surname which will make me very findable.
