I spent decades working graveyards in healthcare, I've done 24 hours more often than I can count. But not without a bathroom or occasional chair and some food if only a bite here and there. And my head was swimming by the end.
I have to humbly admit that I talked some shit about Sen Booker when I saw him 2nd row at the inauguration smiling/joking with his cohorts. I officially take it back. This is exactly what we need, exactly what we have all been screaming for. I hope other Dem Senators take notice and follow suit.

I stayed awake for 41 hours one time. I started hallucinating a little. But I knew what it was. I woke up at 6:00 a.m. on a Friday couldn't sleep at all Friday night. checked in for my flight to Alaska at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday got to Alaska at 6:00 p.m. Saturday night. Didn't fall asleep till 11pm
Sen. Booker is giving everyone an education. He’s also bringing attention to the fact that the longest filibuster was from Strom Thurmond in 1957 as he tried to block civil rights legislation while Booker is trying to block the destruction of America & overturning our democracy.
See this is part of the problem, thinking the general populace is that engaged. They aren’t, that’s why it’s going to take so long for this mess to sink in.

I actually had that same thought; then remembered he has a habit of extemporaneously spitting nonsense at rallies for two hours at a time. Decided I’d give him the benefit of 4 hours; in the hopes it would cause a massive unrecoverable physiological failure if I were to be completely honest.

I didn't know much about him before, but he has definitely earned my respect for actually doing something. It won't change anyone's material situation sure, but it's a step up from do-nothing Schumer and others like him.
As an old yes old OR nurse now, I remember the days in a fairly rural hospital w one Neurosurgeon, scrubbed, I was young then, on a ER craniotomy for 22hr straight, during a midnight call case, my feet were numb, my legs swelled, my back ached at the end. The pt lived. It was worth it!
