It’s a real bummer that education, knowledge and maybe even wisdom ever got commodified and turned into a piece of paper you joylessly acquire as a means to a financial end. I’ve never made a penny out of my degree (Literature and Philosophy) yet I have absolutely “used” it.
I wish. Getting a STEM degree at a prestigious university, in my final year right now. All I have to look forward to is a minimum wage job. "School prepares you to enter the workforce" they say.
All I've been prepared for is endless, pointless monotony.
Biggest lie of my generation. Go to college, or else you’ll have no money… Now the trades are the main interest and the pendulum norms will swing that way.
The trades aren’t necessarily any better. Everyone I’ve worked with on job sites has been to jail AT LEAST once, and is addicted to AT LEAST one substance. Had a friend OD and leave a kid behind, too. The trades aren’t necessarily a better option.
