Thanks! I’m sure (well almost sure 👀) that I read that Carol played on at least one recording session, but of course have no idea now of the source…🤷♂️😑
Her website claims she played on Light My Fire but she has a history of claiming credit for other people's work, and Robby Krieger said it was Larry Knechtel.
Yeah, it's a myth that they didn't have a bass player until later studio recordings. They had 'beefed up' the bottom end from the start. Ray's bass pedal was fine live, but the recordings needed more ooomph.
Quite common. Robbie Krieger says Larry Knectel added bass to The Doors "Light My Fire" by playing along with Ray's organ bassline. None of the band were present.

Also session paperwork is not always complete. She & Hal Blaine do not get on, but both agree they played on "These Boots Are Made For Walking", though neither are listed on the session call sheet.
When she played a local club back in the late 90's, she was a bit bitter about Hal Blaine, who was been critical of Kaye for years. Their battle in public was something to see. Blaine denied she played on many tracks at all and Kaye said he was senile.

I knew the Doors hired a lot of bassists, but I didn’t know it was that many!
Also claimed a lot of Motown work she wasn’t on
Someone did a paper on it, using union records
But no one thinks Carol was trying to steal honor…rather, when you play 1000s of sessions you may mix them up once in a while
But not as many as she thinks 😉
But I love Carol…not her fault if she is mixed up sessions, as she’s played on thousands!
