Lou was always the epitome of style...

1974, NYC

1967. A Verve/MGM ad for the first Velvets LP. @grantmcphee.bsky.social has written how both Verve & ATCO spent large amounts of money on promoting the band with press & radio ads & so on. They remained 'underground' because not many folk bought the records

July 1973, NYC. The Wailers, the Jamaican ones, supported Springsteen for three shows in Max's Kansas City. The band & entourage stayed at the Chelsea Hotel

1980, NYC. Benard Edwards & Nile Rodgers outside the Power Station on W 53rd St. I would have loved to hear a Clash/Chic collaboration📸Deborah Feingold

1963. With 'I Am the Sixties' coming soon on BBC4, a good time to remember that Pauline Boty was not only an incredible artist but talented actress. She made her professional debut in the Royal Court farce, for which she also designed the programme

1981/82. A list of bands that played the 500 capacity de Effenaar in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, along with supports, attendance & admission price in Guilders

1968. I wonder if the punters at Wee Harry's Dancing at Newtongrange Institute realised they were watching two future chart toppers?

"Ooooh, ooooh, I just want you to avoid getting run over..."

London, 1975. Chas Hodges & Dave Peacock around the time of their first LP, "One Fing 'n' Annuvver". The duo had first met as teenagers in 1963. The "Rockney" tag was a bit of a misnomer as both were Norf Londoners, from Edmonton & Ponders End respectively

I lived through the 1970s & still bear the psychic scars...

1978, London. Van Halen hit town. "What do you mean by 'camp'"😂

South London, 1960. This youngster first appeared on record in 1978 as Mandy Doubt, backing vocalist with B List punks The Drug Addix. The lead track on their Chiswick Records EP "Make A Record" was called "Gay Boys In Bondage". Her mum called her Kirsty MacColl

1977, Reykjavik. 11-year-old Bjork onstage. The guy behind her is Gunnar Þórðarson, a legend of the Icelandic music scene

1974, Amsterdam. Alice tells the Colonel how much he digs a Bargain Bucket with large fries & a coke

1969. Clareville Grove, South Kensington, London. Shortlived trio Feathers, David Bowie, Hermione Farthingale & John "Hutch" Hutchinson. The trio performed Bowie originals & Brel covers in a folk rock style but never released anything officially📸Ray Stevenson

1981, Manchester

May 1969, Grande Ballroom, Detroit, MI. What a weekend!

Month after month Wernham Hogg's star sales team Nick & Blixa exceeded their targets...

I remember seeing guys like this in Brixton when I was kid. Ooozing style...

Move over Bob Dylan, Bon Scott of AC/DC was the greatest lyricist of the 20th century. Take this from "Touch Too Much" for example😀 She had the face of an angel Smiling with sin The body of Venus with arms...

1976. "Sounds" invites gig goers to dress in school uniform😳

London, 1967. The Bluesbreakers featured a teenage guitarist called Mick Taylor, while another teen, Paul Kossoff, was in Black Cat Bones. Alvin Lee of Ten Years After turned 23 between their two gigs. He could play a bit as well...

1977, St Augustine's Catholic Grammar School, Wythenshawe. John Martin Maher in art class. The young John was a star footballer & had already formed the band Paris Valentinos with friends Andy Rourke & Kevin Williams, later known as Kevin 'Curly Watts' Kennedy

DJ Ed Spence scores for Spurs. Any others combined playing top level football with spinning sounds of a night?😀

1978, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands. Aston Villa & Scotland striker Andy Gray poses outside his house with a kipper tie, aircraft carrier lapels, Lionels & his souped up Ford Escort RS 2000
