I grew up Mennonite, I have left organized religion for the same reasons many others have, however it did shape my life long belief that we are put on this earth to help others, that is why I will never understand the people that I went to church with and profess to be Christians support this POS - ThreadSky

I feel the exact same way I was never taught that form of Christianity and I went to Sunday school and catechism. It's still just amazes me that people think like this now they call themselves Christians.

I told her. My husband was traveling in NE for the next few days. She took me and stayed through the night. I had to have surgery and off my feet for 3 months. She took care of me the whole time. She was Mennonite, and damn, I loved that woman.

Vivian, you reminded me of one of the nicest and kindest women I've ever met. Thank you. We'd just moved to Topeka, was 6 months pregnant, and I felt weird when I woke. Went to my OB, who said to pack a bag and go to the hospital. Came home in tears... neighbor saw me and asked if I was Ok. 1/2

I have a start on a theory. Many Mennonites, and others, were heavily influenced by "Christian" Radio starting in the 70s and as they heard more and more prosperity gospel, America First gospel and Kill 'em all gospel, they drifted with it to the point they are at today.

Yes, that was the final push to completely shut out organized religion from my life for good. The church-going people behaving in the opposite manner of what Jesus taught has been going on for a long time, but seeing all these proud "Christians" I know embrace this particular man was truly the end.
