Start here for my morning rage about higher ed leaders who are quick to assign blame to us and our institutions, rather than seeing the larger forces at play historically and at present. (Now without the apoplectic grammar of the first skeet!)

The value of higher ed in the U.S. has been perpetually under debate since its inception — Was it to maintain public order via Christianity? Teach people to read? Run a new country? All of the above? The debate itself is the point — the contested question of what education is for. Not a bad thing.
