There is serological evidence of recent EBV reactivation in some in the PVS groups, this can also be seen in infected controls. It is known that inflammation can reawaken latent infections.

There is some increase in Spike protein presence, but some is seen in the control group and most in the PVS group clear the protein rapidly.

PVS responded more against some auto-antigens, while controls responded more against others.

No differences in hormones, but lower levels of fetuin A26 and neurotensin, were found. The limited number of subjects, other confoundes such as anxiety, will make interpretation difficult.

This seems an initial exploratory study. Unfortunately, like for LongCovid, it does not yet provide answers or even clear direction. Replication and studies looking at different aspects will hopefully provide more insight. Insight for potential treatment and insight for prevention.

I doubt we will make any real progress until we define more focal and specific conditions rather than the way too broad "LongCovid" category. Even something like Post-Covid Fatigue Syndrome would be a better foundation for research.

Have you seen any movement along those lines?

One the side they try to do things correctly (afaics without medic background) ie address the right questions no exagerated or spin wording, etc.

But then, somehow, they failed to put their conclusions into a formal (or informal) CI context

It is a good first attempt. A pilot study to look at some first parameters that could give hints for what may be going on. They looked at subsets of cells, some cytokines, antibodies, and hormones. All good. Nothing striking was found, some mild differences that may or may not be of interest.

What do you think of figure 3C? Antibody levels were basically the same no matter how long ago they were exposed except in one of the non-infected groups. Suggestive of persistent antigen or are there better explanations?

Are these SARS-CoV-2 specific antibodies? If it's just total antibodies, it seems hard to say whether or not these are just normal levels without any earlier data.

It is a bit dependent on the strength of inflammation. Remember these data are from 2 dosages. Antibody levels do wane, but not super quickly. The virus needs selection based on avoiding neutralising antibodies to reinfect.
