The last 8 years has completely eroded the hopeful and optimistic outlook I once had.

I don't think Trump voters are paying attention to any of this. They like him because he hates the same people they hate. They won't react until their son or daughter gets scooped up in the mass deportations 'by mistake'. Or their job disappears because some oligarch didn't like the competition.
