My colleague Bruce Foster and I did some work on the history of Conservative parties splintering and merging. If the CPC loses on April 28 will we see another splinter?

We are in a different time, personally I do not see it splintering rather becoming further entrenched with social media maple maga types. Whatever is left of the Red Tories will in all likelihood move over to the LPC as Blue Dog Liberals.
I wish the party would come closer to centre. This current party is too Americanized (with photos to prove it). If they lose, I suspect they will want to replace the leader for sure. Rumour has it, Jason Kenney is waiting….
I don't think Jason will move the party far enough to align it with what we would call progressive conservatism. He's a conservative, hard core Catholic boy at heart.
Oh god no! I think my comment makes it seem like I want him as party leader. No way! We had Jason in Alberta and he isn’t a moral compass for the CONS.
🚨 #UCP MLAs want a referendum on breaking up Canada.
🧨 This isn't leadership. It's political arson
😡 It's betrayal dressed as bravado
📉 It's a reckless distraction
Albertans want solutions, not a separatist fantasy crafted to please extremists. We see you. We won’t forget

I can almost hear Preston's "Reeforrrrm!" On the wind.
The Alberta separatists will have gas thrown on their fire. I even saw Gordon Kesler on FB a few weeks ago saying Carney was the most dangerous man on the planet.
A troubling melding would be Mad Max and Leslyn should PP get bounced.

Likely ... the "right" is all about "me". Clusters of "me" fail to gain control so they soften and merge ... eventually achieving some level of significance.. but when that plateaus the "me" thinks the "others" are the problem ... they break apart ... suffer some more ... and merge again.
I hope so. They are the Reform party in disguise.
Canada needs a PC party not MAGA. It’s time for them to tell their Grand Poobahs, Harper and Manning, to hit road and take their RW gang of misfits with them.
I hope so. I’m a left of centre voter, but would love to see the re-emergence of a responsible centre-right party that I don’t have to be scared of winning an election.
Only because the meaning of the word progressive changed over time. The Progressive movement rejected socialism, liberalism, and conservatism. It did not fit onto the current political spectrum.
No, they understand that united is the only way they have a chance at power. If PP falls apart they'll either move closer to centre to bleed off the red tories who've joined the LPC, or they'll go further right to try to absorb the PPC.
