Horrified to hear of the death of my friend Professor Rod Smith, an expert on high speed rail, who tragically died descending a hill in the Lake District on Boxing Day his 77th birthday. Does anyone have details of what happened?. I had just spent a fab week in Japan with him. Am devastated
