“White people - capitalists - have a slave fetish. That’s why they want AI. The only reason you want a robot to look like a human is if you want slaves.” - my dad

Their attitude is to treat the robots like people… in servitude. It is exactly like slavery. And there seems to be a mad rush from every tech group to elevate AI so that in the end, all persons who work in servitude can be eliminated. To them DEI=Black persons=no longer needed.
This is what I also say. I think they insist on calling AI "intelligent," even when it's obviously not, not merely out of a marketing cynicism, but because the idea of a fully subjugated consciousness is both appealing and aspirational. Engaging with AI becomes an enactment of the slavery they want.
Here's my take. Slaveholders were some of the richest, "most accomplished" men of their day if the book Caste tells history accurately. Did they rape the enslaved. Yes they did. For sex and as an exercise of power. I think many of these techbros as guys who as adolescents and young adults were
socially akward and not among the "popular" kids. Maybe didn't get the attention from girls that they wanted when they were boys. I think they are attracted to sex bots as beings programmed to give them the emotional support and ego boost they desire because they have challenges connecting to
real women. In my opinion this is completely different from slave holders who were raping the enslaved who they knew did not want to have sex with them. Also, enslaved people are real humans. Sexbots are objects, machines. So someone having a sexbot doesn't have to have any cognitive dissonance
I mean, the other reasons to want humanoid robots is "b/c I want to pack-bond w/ it" and "cute/hot".
You could make an argument about the sex stuff being pro-slavery, but the other bits is firmly in the "treat the robot like a people", opposite to slavery ("treat ppl like robot").
Techbros, naturally, have no real desire to see AI getting the same rights as them, b/c there MUST be an inferior class to serve their Capitalist interests. It's antithetical to human empathy.
Yes partially right. Their attitude is to treat the robots like people… in servitude. It is exactly like slavery. And there seems to be a mad rush from every tech group to elevate AI so that in the end, all persons who work in servitude can be eliminated. To them DEI=Black persons=no longer needed.
Black calling the kettle white🤣
Who would not like a robotic slave in the house.
Better start swimming or you'll sink like a stone, for the times are a changing.
I worked for NASA, and we built tons and tons of robots. We built them all the time, spent decades testing them and perfecting every part before we launched them, one after the next, into orbits near and far.
We called them 'satellites' and—
What? Waddya mean, that's the 'wrong kind' of robot?
He’s right tho. The humanoid form is inefficient/ineffective for a lot of the labor we need machines to do, but that need to see another person in servitude is vv strong.
Yeah it's all connected. What we're experiencing is a direct result of the ERA, which was a direct result of Jim Crow -> Segregation -> ... -> failure to address the racism in the Reconstruction Era

Capitalists fear nothing more than their slaves rising up to destroy them.

A few people might want companionship, but that's because of the forced loneliness of capitalism

Most people would kinda rather just have utilitarian robots doing utilitarian things
The kind of people who want slaves though are also exactly the same people who want to sell us weird AI shit
