My friend and I are trying to remember the name of an old #RPG that had a d6 + d20 mechanic. You rolled them together, and if you rolled lower on the #d20 than you did on the d6, something cool happened.
We're both coming up blank. Anyone know what system this is?

Sorry, I know I'm mixing 2 completely different ttrpgs, but they will forever be conflated in my mind
Yeah, it's probably weird... 😉
That sounds like the core mechanic of Lamentations of the Flame Princess (LotFP)!
In LotFP, you roll a d20 for most checks. However, certain situations trigger a "roll under" mechanic where you also roll a d6. If your d20 result is equal to or lower than your d6 result,....cool happens.
May the Emperor protect you from the Ruinous Powers in these trying times.
I still loved the original game too.
