My mom helped run a Social Security field office for most of my childhood. The population that these locations serve is overwhelmingly disabled, elderly, poor or some combination thereof. That’s who they’re looking to deny services and resources.

NEW: Elon Musk’s team has descended on an already understaffed Social Security Administration, which now faces further workforce cuts and closures of vital local offices. The consequences could be significant for millions of the most vulnerable Americans.

1. SS benefits based on work credits for all, the Federal workforce has a different plan.
2. SSI- supplemental income for health disability usually is Medicaid.
3. The poor, if they worked will get social security BUT this may be their only income, can’t live on SS or SSI

Trump will be addressing a joint session of Congress and the Dems have an opportunity to show solidarity against his regime by walking out of the chamber en masse as soon as he begins to speak.
Well. Until recently, I guess.
A very smart, kind, competent man in my local SocSec office made a huge difference for me.
Much gratitude to your mom for her service.
These are people who need advocates, and who need them now.
If they cut the social security, these people lose their little welfare $ as well as housing? Is housing affected? So what happens then? Are they going to be penniless, homeless and just left like a bag of rubbish to rot?
Heartless and that's before a budget that will cut medicaid, etc.
