The Black Panthers figured out the whole game of the oligarchy and solved for it with community, unity and mutual aid. No movement’s leadership was ever demonized and assassinated faster. Study what they did, copy it quietly, bring their vision to life. Defeat the oligarchy by starving it.
The black panters are notably the most arrested and most assassinated opposition group in the US because NOBODY had their backs and they were entirely alone.
Good case against being a maoist imo. Nobody wants to go down for a maoist except other maoists.
The key to their approach was to keep the community’s money locally…spending with their own small businesses. When you spend on national brands you are exporting your money out of your community to Wall Street. That is an existential threat to the oligarchy.
Funny thing happened with what the Black Panthers were doing. Suddenly, the community had money for schools, free lunches for school children, job training, starting successful small businesses…in other words…not making the rich richer…but the high tide that raised all boats
The Black Panther Party wasn’t just a movement—it was a survival strategy that the government actively worked to destroy. But their programs? They’re still the model.
Calling it ethnocapitalism is too narrow a frame. The core of their approach is mutual aid and spending locally…avoid exporting hard earned income to national brands. They leveraged their culture to create community and unity…the same approach works anywhere. Just adapt to as needed…rinse and repeat
They also supported the disabilities rights movement, and were among the first to come to their aid during occupations of buildings. The documentary “Crip Camp”, identifies the connections.
Behind the Bastards plug if anyone is interested, they did a good few eps on them. The thing they did that scared the government most was gasp feeding children. It showed people just how shit a job the government was doing
Enrique Tarrio, chairman of the Proud Boys, helped local animal shelters buy food for the animals. I met one of their members at Walmart a few years ago. I remember that he was black.
Do you need the usual groups for this month that formerly used to celebrate the history of one group of Americans? Or is it okay to expand to other, less well known, courageous black leaders?
I only learned that in my 20s. But I was glad to learn it. My mom had a client who was an enlightened rich white lady who donated to them, cool to think of her doing that way back when.
Come to the black panther museum in Oakland and learn a few things. The Black Panthers were phenomenal and helped other groups like the Chicano movement and the American Indian movement and many others launch their work as well
I didnt know this history, until I moved to San Fran in the 90s, and I learned about their programs. Post Schlump, we will have to do programs like this to get this country back in running order
They inspired over 65 social programs it’s a matter of how to put them in a meme
Nursing programs
STD prevention
Drug and alcohol programs
Nutrition Programs
I mean they were the definition of community activism
The Black Panthers were the most effective black revolutionary organization in the 20th century. Supporting women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, children’s rights and of course Blacks lives while paving the way for todays activists
Every time I saw that photo, I wondered what happened to them to get them to the point they needed guns to defend themselves.
Answer: white supremacy/bigots
Not to mention this shot is likely showing them at a voting place, protecting black voters from harassment. They're painted as militants, but they were far more about defending the black community
The Panthers were set-up by their head of security who also was an FBI informant. He convinced them to show firearms in order to justify their imsage to the public as dangerous.

They lost, we need creativity not repeats.

The question is: Are we ready to bring them back?
Please tell me how it was ethnocaptialism
You are sorely mistaken

Tarrio is far from a courageous leader black or white. In fact I’d say he’s a fascist coward pos
They provided food and support to people with disabilities during the 504 Sit-In in 1977.
We need that community strength again. The US government only knows cruelty.

I would, however, point out the radical groups of the time, hurt a lot of innocent people. Different times.
Sometimes you have to pick the gun up to put the Gun down.

If the #nazis had won WWII, history books would be very different.
And this is why we need emphasis periods for non-white, non-male, non-hetro, non-christian history - so we can tell our truths.
Thank you ❤️🙏
