I've nothing against it personally but it doesn't go well for parties politically when they call for an increase to pay for social care. Lib Dems dropped the 1p cut at the end of 2023 and remember Theresa May's dementia tax.

It's sad that the political parties collectively don't have the courage to say that if we want proper social care and to stop people dying on trolleys or waiting for an ambulance, income tax is the single most obvious and fairest way to do it.

We have created million and billionaires by the 100s since 2010, transferring more public money to the wealthy than Thatcher did. They scarcely pay 20% tax and squeel like pigs at the hint of paying 40%. I'd tax accumulated wealth at 70%. If they want to leave, let them, but we keep our money.

Right there's a timetable. Does it have an action plan. Having a three year study sounds a bit of a dubious way to address social care? The study may be tasked with the next three years doesn't mean they can't make recommendations in a reasonable time if it gets good benefits.

A lot of problems are caused by not being able to discharge patients. Bring back convalescent homes and even cottage hospitals.
