I had a fantastic time at the Kingston Fire Station, speaking to our amazing Fire Cadets and Firefighters, and getting to go up the tallest turntable ladder in Europe! Thank you to all firefighters and fire cadets who are doing amazing work to keep us all safe.

People across the UK and the world will be fearing the break-out of widespread regional conflict in the Middle East, following Israel’s strikes overnight. The UK must work with allies to contain Iran’s nuclear ambitions through diplomacy, not war.

The news emerging from India of the crashing of a London-bound flight in Ahmedabad is devastating. My thoughts are with the passengers, their families and all those affected. I urge the Government to do all it can to support British nationals caught up in this disaster.

Here's the problem with Donald Trump. We have no idea whether his 'America First' review of AUKUS will result in the collapse of the alliance, or if we'll simply end up having to pretend it's now called USAUK.

The NHS is in crisis. We support extra investment to help turn it around, but without fixing social care, no amount of funding will solve the problem. I urge the Prime Minister to ensure the Spending Review finally delivers for social care and family carers.

It was brilliant to be at Greenwich Carers Centre for Carers Week! Alison Bennett and I spoke with some wonderful carers, hearing about their daily challenges and their incredible resilience.

Hey Donald, that bust of Winston Churchill in your office wants a word.

It’s about time.

Catch me and and a very special guest on ITV #ThisMorning at 10:50am.

Farage pretends to support Welsh steel. Meanwhile, his mate Trump is hitting the UK with brutal tariffs that target our steel industry. Nigel backs Trump all the way, then claims to stand with the workers paying the price. 🤦‍♂️

This Carers Week, I’m proud to stand with Carers UK and others in one clear call: greater equality and recognition for family carers. Let’s stand together and show we care.

81 years ago today, the heroes of D-Day showed extraordinary bravery and sacrifice. We owe our freedom to their courage that day. We will never forget them.

Eid Mubarak. Wishing Muslims in the UK and around the world a joyful Eid al-Adha and celebrations with the people you love.

Trump spent 75 minutes on the phone with Putin. He praised him, talked about teaming up on Iran, but apparently never called on him to stop targeting innocent civilians. What a disgraceful way to treat our allies and the brave people of Ukraine.

The PM told me today that he would do everything he can to get desperately needed aid into Gaza, but words are not enough and I will hold him to account until we see action.

We’ve gone from 25% steel tariffs, to 0%, up to 50%, and now back to 25%. We’ve all seen this routine before. Trump causes chaos, Nigel nods along, and British workers pay the price. It’s time the government got serious about trade with our European and Commonwealth allies.

Can’t wait to hear from friend-of-the-steelworker Nigel Farage on how this is another genius move from Donald Trump.

If you’re looking at Elon Musk’s DOGE and thinking that is how we want to have our bins collected and potholes filled - you might be learning the wrong lesson.

Ten years on, we still feel the loss of Charles Kennedy. Charles was principled, kind and possessed an unmatched talent for connecting with people - he was a great friend and an outstanding leader. I know he would have been so proud to see his old seat back in Lib Dem hands.

Today marks the beginning of Pride Month - now more than ever, we must stand with the LGBTQ+ community. I want to make clear that our party will keep fighting - until we can finally build a society where everyone is free to be who they are. www.libdems.org.uk/news/article/pride-month-2025

All you need to know about Elon Musk’s stunning success is that he lasted 2.65 Liz Trusses and lost 150 billion dollars.

The author of Nigel Farage's economic plans celebrates another job well done

Shocked by the scenes in Liverpool today. I want to thank the emergency services who have responded so quickly. My thoughts are with all those who have been injured or affected.

Stopped in at Regency Bookshop in Surbiton to sign some copies of Why I Care, which hits shelves today. It’s a brilliant local shop and a fantastic team. Thanks for having me!

Horrified by the killing of two Israeli embassy staff near the Jewish Museum in Washington DC. People around the world must stand firm against the appalling scourge of antisemitism.

Ginny cares for her husband Tim, who has myotonic dystrophy. She works part-time, on top of caring for him every day. Now, under the Government’s PIP changes, they face losing £12,000 a year. Today I asked the Prime Minister: what does he expect carers like Ginny to do?

My book is all about care. About how being a carer has shaped my life, the role of caring in our society, and how we make sure everyone gets the care they need.

Incredible scenes from Kemi Badenoch’s speech on our trade relationship with Europe.

Social media this morning is a zombie apocalypse of dinosaur Tory politicians and right wing hangers-on hankering after the nasty Brexit wars of the last decade. Our country has moved on!

Today, we join Tamils in the UK and around the world to remember the Mullivaikal massacre. The Liberal Democrats will keep fighting for justice for those who suffered, and stand with all Tamils who are still grieving.

On International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, I want to say to the LGBT+ community: I hear you, I get it, I stand with you, and the Liberal Democrats will never stop fighting to build a country and a world where you are truly free to be who you are.

Heartbroken by the fire in Oxfordshire. My thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives, and everyone still recovering. We owe so much to our incredible firefighters who risk everything to keep others safe.

Surely even Donald Trump now has to admit that Putin isn’t serious about peace. We have to force Putin to come to the table, by seizing frozen Russian assets to help defend Ukraine.

For over ten weeks, Israeli forces have blocked food, water and medicine from entering Gaza. With over two million facing famine and the Netanyahu Government planning to seize all of Gaza, will the PM back a joint plan to recognise Palestine and end this appalling blockade?

Nobody should have to fear for their family’s safety because of politics. What happened at Keir Starmer’s house is unacceptable and must never become part of public life. I’m so relieved he and his family are safe.

We know where destructive divisive politics will lead. We know what’s at stake. And it falls to us to stop it. youtu.be/C4I0YPATcJQ

People are right to be worried about what Reform could do to local services.

Communities across the UK came together today to mark VE Day and remember those who served and sacrificed. Their bravery secured our freedom and helped shape a better world.

Honoured to spend time at Bourne House and Royal Star & Garter marking 80 years since VE Day. It was so lovely getting to chat with everyone, including Amy, a former WAAF barrage balloon operator. Hearing their stories is something I’ll always remember.

I offer my heartfelt congratulations to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV.. At a time when compassion and kindness are needed more than ever, his leadership offers hope to millions of Catholics across the world.

Even after today’s deal, Trump’s terrible tariffs will still be hitting British jobs and businesses hard. The only way we will end Trump's damaging trade war is by standing tough with our allies across Europe and the Commonwealth.

Parliament must get a vote on the government’s deal with the US. Blocking MPs from having a vote would be Trumpian tactics, plain and simple.

80 years ago today, Britain celebrated victory in Europe. We remember with gratitude all those who made the ultimate sacrifice and gave their tomorrows for our todays.

The Prime Minister says he wants to go further and faster on social care, but he's moving slower and slower. Three years just to write a report, seven extra years to implement it. Waiting until 2036 to fix social care simply isn't good enough.

First Trump hit our steel and car sectors with tariffs, now he wants to hit our world leading British film industry. What will it take for the UK government to work with our allies in Europe and Canada on a joint response?
