80 years ago today, Britain celebrated victory in Europe. We remember with gratitude all those who made the ultimate sacrifice and gave their tomorrows for our todays.

Terrific pieces by you and @carladenyer.bsky.social. As for Farage's - well, it's unsurprising that he should use it to push his agenda of intolerance and insularity - the opposite of everything VE day should stand for.
It makes me so sad that so many died fighting fascism because it feels like they gave their lives, we all hoped that fascism wouldn't rise again and it's now biting at our heels in our own country and in so many of our ww2 allies countries.
I agree and yet they betray their voters again and again but their voters continue to give them their votes. Today of all days it feels like those young men who fought and died 80 years ago against fascism died for nothing. Yet the fight against it has to continue more than ever today and forever.

The victory we remember and celebrate was against everything that that man stands for.
We absolutely rely on the people we entrust with power to ensure that complacency never gains traction and progressive reform is constant.
As our unofficial national anthem commits us: [We] will not cease from mental fight.
