Louis Pasteur invented the process of making milk safe (what we now call Pasteurization) in 1862. That was 162 years ago. He did it because he witnessed countless people getting sick from a whole host of horrible pathogens, which some of them died from. And now here we are.

Our infosphere for lack of a better term has been completely enshittified...for a nation that reads on average at a 6th grade level. 22% cannot read. And the number of people who read even one book a year is very very small.

I am trying to think about everything with this in mind.

It’s kinda baffling to me to be honest. I got viral meningitis as a kid, and felt like I was dying. I got pneumonia right after and was fully aware that, if it weren’t for antibiotics, I could’ve died. I remember being glad that there were pills and annoying needle pokes that made me not die.
