The “simplest” (i.e still hugely difficult an unpopular) solution I can see is banning all suggested content on social media. I.e you only see posts from people/accounts you choose to follow, appearing in a chronological order on your feed. And all political advertising on social media banned

That way it would be essentially impossible for hostile actors to game algorithms and influence opinion, while keeping the best/most useful bit of social media, in my opinion. Although goodness knows how this would apply to YouTube without destroying how it works.
