Just noticed the bigger right wing is only in the drawing. Is that a real feature that happens or is it artistic license? Seems like it might hinder flight, but might be compensated for... (Sorry, I haven't gone to read up on it yet)

here’s an image where the difference in shape in particular is a little more noticeable - in other species w the same mutation the difference can be huge!!

there is actually a slight difference in size and shape in life as well! it’s not super noticeable in the image you shared but i did use multiple references for this; these females are slightly larger than males. i’m not sure whether the difference is big enough to interfere w flight tbh!

Thank you! That genuinely means so much to me, I'm just starting and I'm learning so much but I've been struggling to find resources and so I've really just been playing around and learning as I go. I'd love to one day take a class to learn some good techniques and foundations :)

i totally understand! play is a great way to learn :) your sense of color and shape is really good, and it’s all abt practice anyways! when you’re ready for classes, let me know - myself and some other illustrators are teaching online through the Lyme Art Association!
