Small community banks have FDIC insurance and are required by law to loan to people and businesses within a certain radius of the branch. They can not go outside the radius.

That’s why I’ve banked at credit unions for years. You can also invest in funds like DEMZ or Carbon Collective, get an ownership share of Shared Capital Cooperative, or loan money to CDFIs like Community Vision or LEAF (there are many others) build community instead of destroying it. Or start a coop
