with the switch 2 price increases i've seen multiple posts lately going "why should i pay $70-$80 for a AAA game when i can buy five indie games for that price" and like. i appreciate the sentiment, but you realize that those indie games realistically should cost more but are undercharging, right

AAA games should cost less
Like, the economy is in shambles, at the very least, do whatever you can to promote those indie games you love to get more eyes on it because it's almost definitely worth twice what you paid, and that's not even talking about the storefronts cut!
And indie games? 1/2
And then the devs are also expected to do years of free post-launch support as well or else it's "game is dead, do not buy"
But that say more about the hyper fixation of that community than anything else.
Like Deltarune, as much as I appreciate that it is, is NOT a 25 dollar game
Hell just chapters 1 and 2 have more content in their pinky finger than a lot of games and they were FREE
Charging (presumably around) 40-50 dollars for what will have essentially been his life’s work is insane
I look at Balatro and just think about how much more that game should realistically cost.
Now, their budget are overbloated somewhere in most cases, probably marketing, or exécutives paychecks, but that is a whole seperate discussion.
Plus there's sales that can be a straight loss for indies.
Its the kind of game I would pay more than double the asking fee for, and I always boggled at how they could provide so much for 15 Euro
