it absolutely bangs — a very true novel about fucked up family stuff but also the shape and nature of England (with a soupçon of the movie The Wicker Man in there)
something jackie ess said in an interview that stuck with me was thinking of "trans literature" not as necessarily literally being about a trans experience, but thinking of transness as a lens through which one views the world. she said it way more eloquently than that, but i think about it a lot!!
totally separately but if you love reading about questionably evil bdsm homos and unreliable narrators, you should read dennis cooper's The Sluts (also an all-timer but certainly not for everyone)
