How so? Should they not be allowed to? Giving their side is not ‘intervening’, nor would it be for any other party in a similar situation. Do you really think that FG would be dumb enough to try and stop the video from being aired? Also, it’s a Daily Mail news story, so most likely bullshit.
Yup, next thing you know, you'll have politicians threatening to sue media for covering their bad policies/gaffs........ oh wait! That's already happened. 🤦♂️
Further evidence that no Government (regardless of who it is) should have any hand in content supervision of the state broadcaster.
The fact that the government thought they had a chance to intervene says a lot. Since watching the biased reporting of the Genocide I don't partake in mainstream Western media anymore for a reason
No - just @dionfanning.bsky.social at the min - I said nobody is going to call out him wanking dogs on here - I think a little bit of him enjoys that - it’s probably the barrister in him 🤣
Just don't trust RTE. This has always been the case. From the troubles and the pro-british messaging, the willingness to "not talk down the economy" as per Bertie's instruction, RTE are in lock step with the FF/FG political class. They aren't true journalists when it comes to politics.
Fair play to RTÉ for running the story as it was. I know all parties pull this sh1te, but, as a carer for a child with special needs, it's not nice for me to see it in action.
🙁
What is it ever alleged they did here? That they tried stop RTE reporting on a viral clip or tried to give their version of events to RTE before the report went out? It looks like the latter which is... fine?
Your implication that Ireland isn’t a functioning democracy because Fine Gael asked for a story to be stopped and said story was run. Rte ran the story. No threat to democracy found
I’d believe the sincerity except similar concern not shown when Mary Lou who is currently suing RTE called for Rte news coverage to be reviewed. The fact that , Fine Gael asked, Rte still ran the story and that this is now a story shows a free press and good democracy
When Fianna Fáil bullied RTÉ into issuing an apology for carrying a story about those paintings of Cowen on the bog that was bad for democracy. Fine Gael trying to quash a story is bad for democracy even if it didn't succeed.

Would love to hear you both on the same podcast! Make it happen!
“Joe Brolly wanks dogs” I think he quit likes the abuse you can have hurled at you on there.
Vote these baddies out of office! 🗳️
How can we trust them?
